Week 19 Report

ahlfingerz

This week, the group began working with the pieces that were 3D printed at the UN&UP office before the group came in to work on the prototype. Pieces were first printed using filament but complete testing of the y-connector and its fittings with the syringes need to be conducted first before proceeding with the assembly of the open-source syringe pump. Quinlan began testing the code to get the stepper motors working and wired the Arduino to do so. Zane began working on and testing the EM coil by wrapping the copper coil around one of the syringes. Bert tested the y-connector, which has slight pressure issues as the syringes are pushing through a small cross-sectional area, so the y-connector needs to be reprinted with larger channels. Documentation/images of all the pieces being used and tested is being performed as well to make sure everything is covered. Today (2/11), the group continues to work on the prototype and will hopefully develop a working assembly for at least one side of the syringe pump in the next couple of weeks. Other materials such as hardware will be bought for when the assembly begins.
